Bienvenidos!
The staff of Móntez Gallery
welcomes you to our web site. The gallery is situated in the historic
Sena Plaza mansion built in the 1840s in downtown Santa
Fe.
My name is Rey Móntez, founder and owner of the gallery
since November 1989. Móntez Gallery
is represented by a staff with expertise and devotion to heritage
-- each with their special talents and pride in excellent customer
service and quality artworks.

Pictured
below is my nephew, Zachary Alejandro Móntez Skolnik, creator
of this website and one of our sales assistants. To
his left is my sister, María Margarita Raquel Móntez
Skolnik who opened a gallery in Santa Fe in the 1970s named El
Telar which showcased the weaving of my mother's family, the Jaramillos
from Chimayó. She also represented santero Ben Ortega.
To her left is my nephew, Benjamin Ramon Móntez Skolnik, sales
assistant and creative contributor.
The photo
to the right pictures Melinda Griego, our Assistant Manager
and Jim Escudero, who is in sales. To the far right is Liz Escudero,
our Gallery Manager. From a centuries old heritage in Northern
New Mexico, Liz expertise on local religious art has been
of great value to the gallery.

For
almost four centuries the Móntez family has made Santa Fe
its home. Since the 1600s, family members have been builders,
farmers, artisans, and those in the clergy. Among the most accomplished
of the artisans is Ramón Móntez (recently featured
in Tradición Revista magazine), whose devotion and
perfection to detail represent the heritage and inspiration for
Móntez
Gallery. |
